INDUSTRY
Founded in 1992, Informatica Systems provides healthcare customers, including Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), Public Health Organisations and GP practices, with a range of clinical improvement software systems.
Having worked closely with the NHS for 25 years, Informatica Systems directors Philip Brown and David Collie approached Avondale for advice on selling their business and to identify suitable acquirers. At the time, there was growing awareness around the use of data and technology in diagnostics and patient care. Nevertheless, with healthcare technology being a relatively new field, finding the right buyer would prove complex.
Once on board, Avondale began making discreet approaches to carefully selected targets. The team identified Clanwilliam Group, a multinational group of technology and services companies with a strong healthcare focus, as a strong strategic acquirer. Crucially, the group was pursuing an M&A-driven growth strategy and looking to add to its growing acquisitions portfolio. Furthermore, with its excellent networks, the buyer was in a position to develop Informatica Systems and drive the next stage of its growth.
Overseeing the sale negotiations on behalf of its client, Avondale was able to ensure the smooth progression of the deal. A favourable outcome was reached that fully met the directors’ financial expectations. Informatica Systems became the 16th healthcare technology firm to join the Clanwilliam Group since 2014 and is now well placed to leverage the growing demand for ‘HealthTech’. Meanwhile, Messrs Brown and Collie have remained with Informatica Systems in key leadership roles and as shareholders in the company.
“Joining Clanwilliam Group has enabled us to better help the NHS, drawing on a much wider pool of expertise to develop our systems, and a wider network of NHS suppliers in the group that will help us to vastly expand the reach of our technology across the health service.”
Philip Brown, Director, Informatica Systems
